Wait For It

I’m starting to think that photography, especially great photography, is made up of anywhere between 25-95% luck. I’d like to think that I’ve somewhat developed a sense for when moments will happen, but, you can’t know for sure without the aid of a time machine so you still spend alot of time guessing. This is especially true in sports where anticipating what will happen next is paramount. I shot a soccer game a week or two ago and actually guessed correctly twice and still wasn’t able to come away with a really great frame. In this top one most everything lines up, but I needed to be up in the action close with a wider lens, and the expression on #3’s face could be better.

And in this second one I got the right angle and lens but the layers stacked a little awkwardly, and the expression on #3’s face could be better.

But oh well, if things always worked out perfectly there wouldn’t be any fun it, would there?
