3.1.12 – Arnold Sports Festival Pro Boxing
Last year I had the opportunity to cover the Arnold Sports Festival for the first time and was completely blown away by the experience. This year I was lucky enough to be asked back by the festival to cover the weekend again with a very talented crew of friends/photographers. Just like last year, the weekend began with professional boxing. However, this year’s boxing set up absolutely blew last year’s out of the water. This year the folks in charge of the boxing put together one of the most beautiful indoor sporting set ups I’ve had the pleasure of shooting in thus far. I couldn’t say more about the improvement in the atmosphere and the ambiance, it was really a top notch experience.
The first few fights were full of energy, but lead to quick knockouts, so it was a bit difficult to get in a groove early on, especially because I don’t often get the chance to shoot boxing, so the first few bouts were spent mainly getting used to the speed of the action.
By the time the co-main event and the main event came around I was starting to fall into a groove and luckily those two fights turned out to be great pugilistic (I love that word) events, both ending in decisions and giving the fans in attendance a great show to end the night.
